Cheap Weddings - How To Do It
What woman doesn't look forward to her wedding day? Most of us love the finer things in life, including the big fancy wedding, but we all know that these weddings aren't feasible for everyone. If you really do want to save money and can commit yourself to that goal, cheap weddings are entirely possible. Here are some things you can do to prevent unnecessary spending:
Bridal Shops:
Stand your ground and don't let them order a dress in a size that you know will be too large for you. You know what size you wear; you're the one who's been trying on wedding dresses. But bridal shops will try to talk you into a bigger size, saying that you need to allow for this or that. What happens is you end up shelling out money for a seamstress to take the dress in and make other alterations. Cheap weddings stay cheap when you do things like make sure they order a dress in the proper size.
Vendors:
No matter what kind of vendor you're dealing with, make sure that you know all of their fees up front. Whether it's the caterer or the band, you want to make sure that they don't end up charging you some sort of fees for nonsense things. Ask them right out if they have any hidden fees, and get the agreement in writing.
Don't Say Wedding:
Here's a secret to getting good prices when you're calling around and getting price quotes from vendors: Don't tell them it's for a wedding. Sure it sounds a little silly, but it's true: If they think you're just having an 'event', you'll save money.
You can expect that when a vendor gets a whiff of a wedding, they will charge a lot more... often triple or quadruple the price of an event that's no smaller than a wedding.
Do get a price quote, but don't be afraid to haggle a bit and see if they'll go lower. Tips like this make for cheap weddings. So, can they be done? Yes, but you will have to stick to your budget and avoid unnecessary spending like these listed above.
